Occasional freezes w/5336

I posted this in the announcement of the release of 5336, but I'm guessing that it's prudent to create a thread of its own.

I'm getting occasional freezes on my system (Via VT8366 mobo, GeForce4 MX 420, kernel 2.6.1, X version 40201001), which are most apparent when I run glxgears in 1280x1024:
408 frames in 5.0 seconds = 81.600 FPS
304 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.800 FPS
404 frames in 5.0 seconds = 80.800 FPS
311 frames in 5.0 seconds = 62.200 FPS
409 frames in 5.0 seconds = 81.800 FPS
314 frames in 5.0 seconds = 62.800 FPS
414 frames in 5.0 seconds = 82.800 FPS
291 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.200 FPS
397 frames in 5.0 seconds = 79.400 FPS

The freezes are also very apparent in Quake 3.

I'm not entirely certain that the following is necessary, but in the name of thoroughness...

Code:

$ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0
Model:          GeForce4 MX 420
IRQ:            11
Video BIOS:      04.17.00.30.00
Card Type:      AGP

I'm also going to include my XF86Config.

I may as well also include my XFree86.log

I guess I should clarify that these aren't system freezes, but rather occasional choppiness in animation (notice the jumps in fps from glxgears above).

I've also included some interesting kernel messages that I get whenever I play Quake 3 or Wolfenstein RTCW:

I had a problem of, well lets say stuttering performance, in Q3A. It was fixed by recompiling my kernel with support for my motherboard. Try VIA82CXXX chipset support under ATA/IDE support.
