Can't setup twinview w/ GeForce 4400Ti, Mdk9.2
1 Attachment(s)
I can't for the life of me get twinview configured correctly on my computer! I can set up two X displays with no problem, so I know that the monitor and both video ports work just fine. I've attached my XF86Config-4 and log file for open review. The first monitor is a Samsung LCD SyncMaster 171v, and the second is a generic 17" monitor from Fry's with a max resolution of 1024x768 and 60Hz refresh rate. System is an Athlon 1800+ w/ nforce(1) motherboard running Mandrake 9.2 w/ 2.4.22-26mdk as the kernel. When I try to run X with a TwinView configuration, the primary monitor (Samsung LCD) scrolls to fit the whole virtual screen, and the second monitor lies dormant, like it was never recognized. The logs seem to bear this out, but I have no idea as to how to change it. The LCD monitor is connected to the DVI port through a DVI->VGA adapter. Changing the "ConnectedMonitor" string from "DFP,CRT" to "CRT,CRT" or even "CRT,DFP" has no effect. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There's an error in your metamode option. You have something like "1024x786" written instead of "1024x768". What I had to do to get mine working was to try switiching the resolution from kde then restart x so that I could see what modes were preventing my monitor/tv from being activated in twinview (because my tv couldn't support some modes for example).

Sure enough, that did it. Boy, do I feel sheepish! :afro:

That and a couple of minor tweaks did the trick. Thanks!
