GPL Error !!!

When I try to install the latest nvidia Driver.. (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run)

I get this error when the installation try's to load the module

"Hint: You are trying to load a module without a GPL compatible license
and it has unresolved symbols. Contact the module supplier for
assistance, only they can help you."

the acutally installations runs well, but it wont load the module (driver)

What causes this, and are there anysuggestions how to complete the installation..

thx.

Unresolved symbols are caused by a mismatch between your running kernel and your kernel source tree. Please make sure your kernel source tree is configured to match your running kernel.

This is weird, because I know this problem, and a lot of other people are telling me the same.

But I am running af self compiled kernel from scratch (2.4.23) downloaded from www.kernel.org and the sources are just the same..

But I was woundering if kernel patching has anything to do with it, like supermount...

Because this could be the cause...

QM Modules ???

No I get this error ???

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-> Kernel module compilation complete.
ERROR: Unable to load the kernel module 'nvidia.ko'. This is most likely
because the kernel module was built using the wrong kernel source files.
Please make sure you have installed the kernel source files for your
kernel; on Red Hat Linux systems, for example, be sure you have the
'kernel-source' rpm installed. If you know the correct kernel source
files are installed, you may specify the kernel source path with the
'--kernel-source-path' commandline option.
-> Kernel module load error: insmod: QM_MODULES: Function not implemented

insmod: cannot open /proc/ksyms No such file or directory

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've just compiled and installed the 2.6.1 kernel. So thats kinda weird that it gives me an error that it might be the wrong kernel-source??

But anyway, but does the QM_MODULES error mean ??
