I'm experiencing some tearing, while playing movies using mplayer. With the nv driver this doesn't occur. But then my tv-out wont work.
Does anyone knows how to get rid of the tearing or how to configure the nv driver so it also outputs to my tv.
My GeForce4 MX 440-SE has TV out, but I have never used it so I've never configured it.
However, if you haven't tried it already, try putting this in your shell's startup file:
for bash, in ~/.bashrc or zsh, in ~/.zshrc:
for tcsh, in ~/.tcshrc:
setenv __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK '1'
Then logout and log back in and try playing something again. I have never experienced tearing/shearing myself, but the README file that ships with the driver says to use it to prevent it because it syncs the video with the monitors refresh rate.
Hope this helps.
thanks for replying, I'll give it a try.
As U said tearing doesn't occur if you output to only one screen(either tv or crt) but the 2 combined give problems.
I've also found this in the readme, but I wasn't to sure how to use it.
thx again, i'll let you know if it worked.
