'nv' and 'nvidia' in XF86Config
Hey
I'm having some problems - After I switch the line 'Driver 'nv'' to 'Driver 'nvidia'', as per the readme file, X won't boot. It just shows a blank screen, with some white jibberish (IE random lines of ^&%*%@^(*&BCEG &^CGHJG-ish stuff). Kinda strange =/ I'm using Fedora Core One (RedHat Linux 10, if you like), with a GeForce FX 5200 AGP. I've tried both the 5336 and 5328 drivers. The XFree log shows an error - (EE) Failed tp initalize GLX extentions (NVIDIA XFree86 driver not found) I also can't get the Unreal engine to boot. It gives an error about GLX or something. Anyone got any helpful information? Thanks! |
It sounds like the nvidia drivers weren't installed properly. Post the installer log here.

Alright. Thanks, and I hope these help.

That log doesn't look good with those warnings. Two things to check: has your driver got corrupted during the download? Download it again and compare the two files with cmp. And then check your kernel source tree matches your running kernel (uname -r).

Kernel source looks good, and the files aren't corruped. =/

Yes, it seems to be loading the GLX module fine.

I've noticed my installer log is a bit different to yours. No warnings but this:
-> Installing classic TLS OpenGL libraries. Could be a case of using the wrong OpenGL libraries. Searching this site for "tls" gives plenty of hits about this. |
