TwinView in RedHat 8

I've gotten the nVidia drivers installed successfully. Unreal Tounament and Return to Castle Wolfenstein both work wonderfully.

I can't get anything to show up on my second monitor though. Here's an excerpt from my XF86Config:

Option "TwinView" "on"
Option "SecondMonitorHorizSync" "28-85"
Option "SecondMonitorVertRefresh" "50-160"
Option "MetaModes" "1280x1024, 1280x1024; 1024x768, 1024x768; 800x600, NULL"
Option "TwinViewOrientation" "RightOf"
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "CRT, CRT"

I'm using two identical monitors (Samsung SyncMaster 955DF).

As I said, the games work fine. I run them at 800x600, and they're displayed full-screen on the 1st monitor, as they should be.

On the desktop, however, I have the resolution set to 1280x1024. Only the first screen displays anything, but the desktop seems to be larger than 1280x1024 (but smaller than 2560x1024). That is, if I move my mouse past the right edge of the screen, it scrolls. Nothing ever displays on the second monitor, though.

Any ideas?

I was actually typing that from memory, so here is exactly what appears:

one thing I notice

nerfherder,

one thing I notice right away is that your twinview options are all in your display section. They need to be in the screen section. More later.

just for fun, here's my xfconfig86 in it's entirety

This seems to work for me:

Thanks for the reply.

I noticed in your other post that you said screen section. Upon seeing that, I copied the TwinView lines under screen and there was no change upon restarting. I will double-check the placement when I get home. (I'm at work right now, bouncing back and forth between WinXP and Mac OS X 10.2 -- basically everything except Linux.)

w00t!

It works!

I changed my screen resolution, and I noticed that nothing changed. No matter what, my desktop was at 1600x1200--and my config had a metamode of 1600x1200, NULL. I got rid of that metamode and watched in awe as both screens came on at 1280x1024!

Life is good.
