Athlon XP 2000 wont get recognized properly...!!

I have an Athlon XP 2000 and a MSI KT3 motherboard.
I just updated the Mobo's bios and now it keeps on saying that Im using an anthlon xp 1900. I already have it running at 1.79ghz.
the new bios is suppose to fix some things up and to support higher athlon xp models.

one more question. i have a 256mb kingmax ddr 400 and i cant seem to make it run at 2 instead of 2.5.

What does you BIOS report when running that speed?

At default values.....it comes back as a 1900+?

Have you tried unlocking the CPU?....are you running a non-default multiplier?

The reason I ask is sometimes people don't fully unlock the CPU and they think they're running a particular multiplier...In reality, the motherboard defaults to another multiplier and a different speed is reached...

Its a long shot.....but who knows....

Good luck!

:D

Well, im very sure that ive unlocked it cause i can change the multiplier settings and that it wasnt like before the Bios update.
At the bios posts it says its running at 1792 sisoft sandra tells me the same thing.

I have the same board and the latest bios, and yes the new bios posts what your CPU as it is, not what its overclocked to. If you go to system properties under Windows XP it will say the samething, only it will show what the cpu is running at 1900+ @ 1.79 for eg.

Im running it right now at 12x149 but when i set it on 10x170 it says athlon xp 2000. for some reason i get better performance with the 12x149 setting.

10*170=1.7GHz
12*149=1.788GHz

Might be stupid to say but does your FSB say 133MHz ? First time I turned my box it was set at 100.

yea volt is correct cause these proc run @ 266mhz internal clock and should default to a 133mhz fsb.

100 is the default fsb when i clear the cmos.
