BIG FONTS, small fonts

Hello,

I finally got the NVIDIA drivers installed and now some of my fonts are all messed up. I've used the KDE utilities to size the fonts down, however, some are being very stubborn. I've found that the text on buttons are especially troublesome.

I'm using Mandrake 10 and the most recent drivers for my NVIDIA Go.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

~Tirian

Re: BIG FONTS, small fonts

The reason this happens is that the nVidia drivers use EDID/DDC to get monitor size and set DPI. (and thus point-to-pixelsize conversion rates). You'll can add these to the Driver "nvidia" section of your XF86Config file to get the old behavior back:

Option "IgnoreEDID" "on"
Option "NoDDC" "on"

Re: BIG FONTS, small fonts

I think I have the same problem on my laptop LCD. I tried the above solution, and when starting X again, the font size appears correct, proportionatly, but i am at 640x480 resolution max, when I have in fact set screen up to use 1400x1050. Any advice is appreciated.

Re: BIG FONTS, small fonts

In the seccond device section, I had tried as recommended. And that is when poor resolution was obtained on laptop LCD.

I think my problem may stem from the fact that when using twinview on a laptop, teh external monitor becomes primary head. I run that at 1280x1024, and set my fonts to look good using that as well as the internal, but the DPI would have been fetched from the external. So when I use just the laptop LCD, the fonts were set using the DPI of the external, and things get out of porportion.

Perhaps if I could use the internal LCD DPI in dual-head, set my fonts up that way, and then things might look ok in singl-head. Can this be done? Another solution maybe?
