Framebuffer and X

Hi. I am using a 2.6.5 kernel, with the Vesa and nvidia-5336, on an Athlon XP 2200+, with a nVidia MX 440.
Thing is, i have need for both framebuffer on console, and X with goodperformance (Hey, we all like to play quake from time to time ;) )
Is there a way this could be done? Either by using an nVidia driver for the fb, or using the Vesa for the X with the nVidia glx extentions, or something?

All help is apprecieated.

Rojer Smith.

Re: Framebuffer and X

You have to use vesa for the framebuffer as nVidia Riva option is broken, I dont see a proble with using vesa anyway.

Forgot to mention (Stupid of me) That when switching from vt to X when vt has framebuffer and X has nvidia driver, causes VT to become garbled, and I cant (or at least dont know how to) do anything about it.

Found the solutions. Posting it here for others to be able to read.
Downgrading to nVidia driver 4363 solves the garbled framebuffer problem, at least on some configurations (Havent fully tested it yet ;) )
Anyway, you can find links to patch the old driver and use it on the 2.6 kernels at www.minion.de . Hope this helps anyone with this problem.
