The Sims 2

Ugh, now I'm addicted to this damn game AGAIN. Years ago when The Sims came out, I had for inexplicable reasons a paralyzing addiction to the game. This lasted for a good while until finally I was released from its grasp by the sudden realization of all the game's shortcomings and boredom with its finer points. Well, this new version is leaps and bounds better than the first, and I gotta say, all my complaints from the first one are gone. There goes my free time.

Click here for an awesome account of some of the things you can do in this game. It's a funny article too.

Runs great on my system. I'm guessing it would run really well on all of your guys' systems too. Then again, I leave my IQ options at Application Preference because AF doesn't do anything in this game. You can set AA in game which is pretty nice. At max AA it does slow down a bit but it's really not that bad. Jaggies don't bother me in the least though, so I keep the AA low for the most part.

Runs great for me at 1280x960 with everything on high and the in-game AA turned all the way up with the ATI Control Panel AF set at 8x. Then again, I have a dinky little house at the moment. ;)

Why am I playing this damn game?

That article is hilarious. I'm reading it right now at work and I have to keep myself from laughing too loudly. If you know about all the nuances of the Sims, the author of the article tells about how he messes with the characters (like installing a brick wall around someone using the toilet so that they will die a slow agonizing death). Good, fun article.

I started the neighborhood over from scratch and built a new house, which was way better than my last one. Now I'm married to this hot, rich blonde chick and have all sorts of expensive stuff. I'm thinking of building a bigger, two-story house and going ahead and having kids. God, I need help.

Game runs really cruddy on my system:

FX 5900SE
2600+ Barton
512 MB DDR4000

I was really hoping it would run at least 60 fps when I read the system requirements for Intel Extreme Graphics, and I had all of them. I dunno why they say it's runnable with an Intel Extreme. I know the FX series sucks with PS2 but I doubt Intel's onboard can do any better

Anyone know which drivers work best for Sims?
