Half life 2 installation
 

Not sure where to post this but is it true that you have to have an internet connection to play Half Life 2.. have i got the wrong end of the stick when Doug Lombardi says

"For security/anti-piracy, each copy [of Half-Life 2] must be authenticated via Steam during installation, after this one-time authentication is complete, an internet connection is not required for single-player and LAN games."

and it will probably be cracked like windows xp. dont get me wrong, authenticatiuon is a good thing.. but this online stuff sucks.
