HL2 on FX - 56.xx or 67.xx

I have a friend who is going to install HL2 soon. Does it work better with the 67.xx drivers or 56.xx drivers on FX hardware?

56.xx for DX 8.1
67.xx for DX 9.0c

Need at least 61.77 or you get BSOD with memory dump.
