FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
OK iv looked all over the place and i cant find any help for this. Im trying to upgrade from my 5 year old Ti 4200 and well iv tryed looking for a 5900 but not many of them around in my price range. So I though lets try 5700...well I saw that it had three types, the 5700, the 5700LE, And the 5700 Ultra.Well I know that the Ultra is the best of the 5700's and costs the most. Im lookin around for somethin under about $140. Well I see the 5700 and the 5700LE at low good prices....well I need to know which is better. The reg. 5700 or the 5700 LE. The reason is because I'v found a 5700 256mb 256-bit graghics core 128-Bit memory interface video card. Then iv got the 5700 LE 256Mb 128-bit graghics core 256-bit memory interface video card. Well Im confused about everything. Can someone please help me! :banghead: :eek2:

Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
Actually the 5700 is faster then the 4200 in newer games. Slower in older titles. Anyway, Jake, you could get the 5700LE that I have. It comes out of the box overclocked and can be pushed further to full 5700 speeds. However, you might want to skip both of those and go for the 6200 AGP. I'm getting the leadtek one from Newegg and it's only $124 shipped and from what I've seen in my researh it performs between a 5700U and 5900. And if you'er lucky enough to be able to unlock the 4 additional pipes it's faster then the 5900 in most cases.
Check the VGA Chart here at Toms Hardware. You'll find that the 5700 does quite well vs. the 4200. |
Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
Yea sorry your right the Ti 4200's did come out three years ago. my friends told me it was about 5 years, But I shouldnt have listen to him. He knows less about them than I do. Yea im thinkin about gettin a ATI but My freind got a peice of junkNEW 9800 pro Like when they just came out and it SCREWEDhis whole system up. dont know how it did but i was there and saw it. So i'd rather stay with Nvidia but im thinkin about an ATI 9800 pro.

Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
mister jake_maveric, please shorten your sig to 10 lines or less, and preferrably use the [ size=1 ] and [ /size=1 ] tags on it (remove the spaces in the brackets, put the first one on the beginnig of the sig, the last one directly after)... small is good.
I'd honestly recommend a 6600 vanilla AGP over a 9800 Pro. They all overclock fairly decently, and once OC'ed, they not only edge out the 9800P, but they also feature SM3.0. :) |

Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
I just looked at the VGA Charts IV from Tom's and it proves what I was saying all along. An FX5700 is no faster than a Ti4200. In fact, by buying a new FX5700, the highest settings playable in any modern game will be exactly the same as on a Ti4200, and in the case of a FX5700LE, they would be considerably lower.
Save your money, avoid the GeForce FX cards at all cost and get that 9800 Pro 256-bit if you can. |
Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
I picked up a FX5700le for my sons Pc and o|ced over a standard card and it plays most games just fine for a very cheap card!!

Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
I have a normal FX5700 where as my friend has an FX5700LE.
Main difference I noticed was the LE's in-ability to play Splinter Cell : PT. The whole point of his upgrade was to play games that use Pixel Shader technology, which to be honest an LE version should be able to do anyway. To this day he still gets the message along the lines of "no shader model support". His clock speeds are a little lower then mine, but apart from that there identicle. |
Re: FX 5700LE vs. FX 5700
Yea thats what im gonna do. But since I dont have the cash for a new card i'll just upgrade the other stuff. More RAM,New monitor, new sound card(5.1 or 7.1). Then I'll start lookin for the video card. Tryin to make my system a GAME MACHINE!!!! :headbang: :rw: Thanks for the replies guys.
