glxgears score for Fx6600GT.

Hello all,

I've replaced my Albartron FX5900/256 with a Leadtek FX6600GT (The 5900 was moved to another machine) and I'm getting major drop in glgears performance: From around 8300 to around 6300.

Do these numbers look OK to you?

Machine configuration:
Asus A7M266D.
2 x Athlon MP 2400.
1GB RAM.
SCSI RAID.
431w P/S.

OS configuration:
Distro: Fedora Core 3, i386.
nVidia Drivers: 7167.
Kernel: Linux 2.6.11.
DE: KDE 3.4

Running configuration:
[gilboa@gilboa-home-dev gilboa]# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version
NVRM version: NVIDIA Linux x86 NVIDIA Kernel Module 1.0-7167 Fri Feb 25 09:08:22 PST 2005
GCC version: gcc version 3.4.3 20050227 (Red Hat 3.4.3-22.fc3)

[gilboa@gilboa-home-dev gilboa]# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0
Model: GeForce 6600 GT
IRQ: 201
Video BIOS: 05.43.02.46.68
Card Type: AGP

[gilboa@gilboa-home-dev gilboa]# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Enabled
Driver: AGPGART
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Disabled
SBA: Disabled

Cheers,
Gilboa

Re: glxgears score for Fx6600GT.

I get between 12000 and 13000 on my GeForce 6800 Ultra.

glxgears' performance depends on CPU a lot....

... Yeah, but it's the same machine. (CPU/Memory/etc)
I'm wondering if anyone else, with a FX6600GT is getting the same performance...

Cheers,
Gilboa

Are you guys running it in full screen or windowed mode?

Re: glxgears score for Fx6600GT.

Same here.
Default save.

rewt,
Seems that we are getting the same performance. (Duals tend to be slower, and I have slower CPUs)
Do you O/C your card? (And, how do you O/C your card?)

Cheers,
Gilboa

Hmmm, my scores with 5900xt.

Configuration:

slackware-current
kernel 2.6.11.2
xorg 6.8.2
nvidia driver 1.0-7174, using agpgart

amd barton 2500+ @ 2.2 ghz (11 x 200 mhz)
epox 8rda3+
1 gb (2x512 mb, dual-channel) Apacer DDR400 @ 6-3-3-2.5
sparkle gf fx 5900xt (video bios flashed to 450/740 mhz)

glxgears results (default window size):

37118 frames in 5.0 seconds = 7423.600 FPS
37087 frames in 5.0 seconds = 7417.400 FPS
37122 frames in 5.0 seconds = 7424.400 FPS
37110 frames in 5.0 seconds = 7422.000 FPS
37112 frames in 5.0 seconds = 7422.400 FPS

Re: glxgears score for Fx6600GT.

I think there's an issue with twinview. Running with a two monitor setup, I get 3000fps with an FX4400, but get 13000fps if I switch to single headed or cloned. Under windows I notice the same performance drop (completely unworkable with the nvidia demos (dawn, pirate ship, etc.) unless I toggle single-headed performance mode). I get something like 2fps in dual-headed-performance mode, and somewhere closer to 60fps in single-headed mode.

Interestingly, SPECViewperf results come out basically the same whether it's in full twin headed mode or single headed under linux, so it clearly doesn't affect everything to the same extent.

Weird...

I had the same dual head configuration with my GF5900 and it worked just fine :/
