Doom3 and linux, why doesn't this work?
 
Okay so I have a working Fedora Core 3 box, Nvidia drivers working. I can play Enemy Territory, Quake3, all of that with good quality/performance, etc. Now when I attempt to run Doom3 I get a flurry of good initialization information until I reach:

What my armchair knowledge of Doom3 and 3d tells me is that it couldn't follow any of it's "render paths", for some reason couldn't work with my video card. I have latest Nvidia linux drivers on my Fedora Core 3 installation, I can run dual head with them as well as a few other video games as I said. I have the latest ALSA, I attempted to run it with OSS and had the same results. It seems clearly video related (hence my use of this forum) anyone have any relevant ideas or experience?

what's ROE?

in response to this thread though.. not ARB2 (fx series/6 series or so) and NOT NV2x? what is that a TNT2 card? it must be something like that...

soo if it is a TNT2 and below then your card will not work with Doom III... and from the looks of the extensions detection and codepath choices it very well could be a TNT2 or below... or the drivers are not properly installed perhaps using Mesa... just a guess

Argh no guys, it's a geforce 6800. I can run this thing in windows with no troubles.

Do you use x86_64/AMD64 Port by chance?

Yes, my xorg.conf uses the "nvidia" driver I can play Quake and all these other games just fine. In fact I suspect Quake3 runs better in linux than it does in windows.

I currently have my xorg.conf in a dual head configuration. I thought that was the culprit at first, but I made a new xorg.conf for single monitor use and had the same problem. My current xorg.conf:

Do you have severals libGL.so ? (ie one in /usr/lib and one in /usr/X11R6/lib )

this signifies a problem with your libs... you're not using the NVIDIA provided libs.. probably
