Favorite OS of all-time.

What is your FAVORITE OS of all time?

Which do you like and why?

PCarr78 07-28-02 11:33 AM

I'm torn between Windows NT4 and 2000

I like NT4 because it's 100% bloat-free, fast, unbeatably stable. Works on old machines too.

I like nt5 (2000), becasue it's compatible, stable, and very fast.

As for UIs, I like win3.1

It's nice.

Actually I love XP, more stable than 2000 w/ SP2 for me, and a it was easier to setup my home network on it as well...

2000 is my all time favourite the most stable thing I have ever used. Never once crashed on me :)

*pokes corp with a copy of windows ME* you know you want it!;) :p :D

*PUKES*

I'd rather sleep with a pepper!

As for XP, while I liked the updated UI and streamloined config, the stability dodnt imnpress me.

Also, it's BLOATARIFFIC

monkeydust 07-28-02 12:29 PM

What difference does it make how bloated a piece of software is anyway? Memory is so cheap these days, I really don't see how that comes into play. I like Windows XP quite a bit. I think Microsoft's OS's keep getting better with each release.

PCarr78 07-28-02 12:32 PM

Yes, but when your mobo maxes out at 512, the price of mem isn't gonna help.

XP is generally slower than 2k.

I don;t see a reason why it should be though.

Not THAT much added on

Starscream 07-28-02 12:33 PM

2k for me, it's fast and stable.

|JuiceZ| 07-28-02 04:22 PM

although I love XP, win2k will be my all time fav since it was the first time they combined the stabilty of nt w/ the multimedia capabilities of the win9x kernel.

I'll give ya that! :D

Bloatware indeed, but it loves my 512mb of RAM. My big reason for not going back to 2k is the driver/gaming support. XP detects and installs nearly all of my hardware, and I don't have to fight messy driver installations.
