realtime pricing bar is slowing the forum down
hey guys,
i've been visiting this site/forum for a while now and i love it! however, the recently-added realtime pricing bar above the forum content (nvnews.pricegrabber.com) has sometimes been quite slow with the access times. it causes that bar to sometimes take about 5-10 seconds to load, for every single forum page. i was wondering if perhaps you could reconfigure it or even write your own caching function that caches it every 3-4 minutes so that it greatly reduces or even elimates that lag, yet still shows the ads. just thought i'd mention that and wondered if it was affecting anyone else. i would be more than glad to lend a hand with the php to do this. thanks! |

Re: realtime pricing bar is slowing the forum down
crap, sorry for the repost. i already have a firetune-tweaked firefox at fast/fast setting and it still crawls. perhaps pricegrabber's servers are blocking the simultaneous connections as a DoS prevention or something. regardless, a small caching script would make it practically instantaneous. offer still stands :)
