FreeBSD 5.4 Compile of FreeBSD Driver Doesn't Work

Hello,
I recently installed the Production Release FreeBSD 5.4 and followed the stated directions to install the nvidia FreeBSD device driver. However, when I run the "make install" command from within the temporary directory, I receive the following "Fatal errors"...

"/tmp/NVIDIA-FreeBSD-x86-1.0-7667/Makefile", line 2: Unassociated shell command "lib \
"/tmp/NVIDIA-FreeBSD-x86-1.0-7667/Makefile", line 3: Unassociated shell command "x11 \
"/tmp/NVIDIA-FreeBSD-x86-1.0-7667/Makefile", line 2: Unassociated shell command "doc

I'm fairly new at FreeBSD, but wanted to try it. Any ideas?

I recommend installing from ports. The driver is in /usr/ports/x11/nvidia-driver. Remember to update your ports tree first.
