Dual-Head Ultra 20

Hi There,

Just got a new Ultra 20 w/ the Quadro NVS 280 card. Very nice system! I installed the latest nvidia driver and started working w/ TwinView to get a dual head display.

I get the Nvidia logo and the gdm/X11 login page, but the driver seems to reload at login instead of taking me to a desk top. Below is my xorg.conf file.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Dual-Head Ultra 20

Do you know if the NVS 280 card supports TwinView? If not, to get dual head, you may have to configure multiple X screens.

Re: Dual-Head Ultra 20

I finally tried setting TwinView on Ultra 20 with Quadro NVS 280 and it worked.

I had to additionally set

Option "NoTwinViewXineramaInfo" "1"

in the device section to make this work.

I am now running with 2 21" ViewSonic monitors with the virtual screen size of 3200x1200. That's great!!

Sweet. I don't have Solaris background, so I can only salute you.

Yes, all NVS 280 GPUs support nView. Additionally, the dozen or so Dell Quadro 280 NVS that I've owned or configured include a Y-adapter from a special DVI connector to dual analog VGA. YMMV.
