UDMA5 Drive, But Can't Enable Past UDMA2

I'm trying to configure my Western Digital 40 GB ATA100 drive to use UDMA5, but I can't get it there. I've tried using hdparm -X69 /dev/hdb, but when I run hdparm -i /dev/hdb, it stills shows UDMA2.

I'm using RedHat 7.2.

uname -mpsr:
Linux 2.4.7-10 i686 unknown

output of hdparm -vi /dev/hdb

/dev/hdb:
multcount = 16 (on)

Do I need to compile the kernel with support for VIA hardware at this point?

NorthBridge: VIA VT8363
SouthBridge: VIA VT82C686B

Thanks,

I found the answer to the problem. I'm working on getting this fix implemented. It seems that there is a problem with the IDE driver for RedHat. It forces the OS to see a 40-pin connector regardless. Therefore, the hard drive gets stuck in ATA33 mode.

Here's the solution.

The solution I used was found in: 15. Red Hat Linux 7.2/7. 1 Enabling IDE Driver Beyond ATA/33
