Anyway to stop auto downloading?

I am really tired of going into servers and having nearly all of them download Quake sound files. If I wanted to play Quake I would and I cant stand hearing them in source games especialy DOD. Anyone know what file to edit to stop auto downloading?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm, I believe changing the console variable "cl_allowdownload" to "0" will disable downloading content from the servers. Let me double-check quick...

cl_allowdownload 0

Trouble is, that also disables downloading of custom maps and custom sprays. I understand your problem though, it is pretty gay when you connect to a server that has like 100 wav files for you to download, and it is all full of sh!t that you don't really care to hear.

I keep downloads enabled anyways because I want the custom maps though. It would be nice to be able to have maps and sprays enabled with everything else disabled.

Yup, Alphawolf is right. cl_allowdownload works, but it also disables custom sprays and any other non-standard server content (including mods and models). Kinda sucks that there's no option to disable JUST custom sounds.

I can also do without some of those custom maps so "cl_allowdownload 0" will do. Thanks guys. :)
