F.E.A.R. installation freeze problem
Hey, just got my copy of FEAR and I've been trying to install it on my system with no luck.

The installation routine freezes my entire computer at about the 90% installation. CTRL+ALT+DELETE doesn't work either.

I've tried the installation after turning off both antivirus and ZoneAlarm but still no luck.

What do you think the problem is? My DVD rewriter is the NEC ND-3520A so I don't think it's a problem with the DVD player.

Do you think the currently installed ForceWare of 77.76 could be the problem? If so, I would be surprised b/c the FEAR demo installed and played just fine with the 77.76.

Plz help!! They won't even give me a refund!!

Have you tried extracting the files to your hard disk and installing from there?

Check to see if your installation disc is dirty or scratched. If scratched, clean it and then try it in another drive (if available).

You aren't going to get a refund, but you should still be able to exchange it for the same thing. Just tell them that you're experiencing problems and would like to do an even exchange.

Re: F.E.A.R. installation freeze problem
Thx for the advice guys. Here is what I did to finally install FEAR.

I uninstalled the 77.76, rebooted and cleaned out the driver remnants with Driver Cleaner Pro, and installed the 78.05 VXG driver.

I tried to install again from the DVD and it worked!

So happy. Despite what I heard, FEAR runs pretty well on my system although it's 1024x768.
