Request for the return of 'one file readme.txt'

I see since the last two driver releases, the 'readme' file has been moved to a separate multi-page html format - and very good it is too.

BUT, I really miss the one page readme.txt file, as if I am looking for options, it is so much easy to search that file and find what I am after in seconds - the html readme takes ages to even find what section you are supposed to look in!

Thanks,

Happy holidays all...

What do you mean? The text readme is still included with the driver

Code:

darktama@araqiel ~ $ qlist nvidia-glx | grep README
/usr/share/doc/nvidia-glx-1.0.8178/README.gz

Though, I can't seem to find the text-only version on nvidia.com...

Exactly - I don't want to install or download a new driver until I read all about it (by searching).

It would be nice to still have the online single file text version.

I feel the same. I miss having the text file on the web site. On the other hand, the html file is very nice but would be better if they didn't split it into so many pages.

Maybe just 4 parts, each being one web page:
1. Preface/Introduction
2. Installation
3. Additional information
4. Appendices

Thanks.

The text README is still available via FTP (ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...DME/README.txt, ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...DME/README.txt).

Thanks, didn't know that.

Yeah, I second this. I managed to find the latest readme as a single text file, but it was just by dumb luck. And here's a banana: (nana2)
