1920x1080@60 over DVI, FX5200, and max pixel clock.
Hi all - There seem to be a lot of threads floating around concerning maximum pixel clocks, but they are all leaving a bit confused. Here is my situation: I'm trying to run my HDTV at 1920x1080@60 over DVI. The modeline I'm trying is :
Modeline "1920x1080_60.00_rb" 138.50 1920 1968 2000 2080 1080 1083 1088 11 11 +HSync -Vsync
This modeline doesn't work because the pixel clock of 138.50 MHz exceeds my cards maximum pixel clock of 135 MHz. I can think of three possible options here:
1) Reduce the refresh rate. I've actually already done this and it works great. I have a modeline where the refresh rate is set to ~53.3 Hz and this works wonderfully. This may be my fallback solution.
2) Fallback to an earlier driver? I've read some threads that an earlier driver didn't properly report the max pixel clock and I might be able to get that to work?
3) Buy a new video card that supports a higher pixel clock? What would I buy? Everyone recommends the 5200 for linux HTPC use. Is there another good option that would allow me to do 1920x1080p@60 video under linux?
Thanks for any suggestions - J
