Thanks man, I'm seriously considering ordering this monitor. I absolutely love my VP201s and other reason I considered replacing it would be for the 16:10 aspect.

The reviews in Anandtech and Neowin's forums say it pretty good. Just hope I don't get one with dead pixels.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get a few dead pixels. I've never seen a display that didn't have at least one. What I would send it back over would be if any showed up in the center of the display, especially stuck on or stuck off pixels. Those are really annoying.

Yea mine currently has 1 that in the very lower right corner that barely visible. If it was in the center I would of taken it back.

Actually they will. Dell has a no questions asked return policy. Been researching for the several mins about it.

Anyways, couldn't pass up such a good deal, ordered one, we'll see if its a worthy replacement to the VP201 series.

1680x1050 Pixels? whoa, not standard. so when playing games it will be stretched right? this monitor is worse then the 2001fp, and you can still grab those for $600 if your clever. If n e 1 lives in the bay area (cali) theres guys on craigslist still selling em for $600 cash, and mine came with no dead pixels :)

If you have the proper box marked in the driver it won't scale to fit the screen. So things won't get stretched out. I know there's a box in the Catalyst driver and the NVDA driver for it somewhere.

To me you play games in 1600x1200 w/this monitor (sides will be cut off slightly) and use the native res. in Windows for DVD viewing/web surfing, etc..

The latest games are coming with option that allow you to switch between 4:3 & 16:9, most notably HL2. For others, the monitor comes w/ software that will allow the game to either scale or run in letterbox mode. I'm not too found of a stretched screen though so we'll see what it looks like. FYI, my current LCD monitor has the same specs as the 2001fp, which is another reason why I'm waiting to compare them both.

Dangit only tonight I was hoping soon like this summer to replace my 2 year old 17in ViewSonic LCD, No not really Ill be looking for a 24 and about LCD screen before ever replacing my Sonic.

Good deal though (snowcool)
