Tyan Mobo with SLES Installation

1 Attachment(s)
We are having a terrible time getting the nVidia driver installed on our SLES 9.0 workstation that we have just built.

Hardware:
Tyan K8WE S2895 Motherboard
Video PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX540 (PCI Express)
2x Opteron 248 Processors
4 GB RAM (4x 1GB sticks)

OS:
SLES 9.0 kernel 2.6.5-7.244

We installed SLES, including kernel-source, installed SP1, downloaded all remaining updates from Novell, prepared the kernel source with (inside /usr/src/linux):
make cloneconfig
make prepare-all

Downloaded and ran shell script "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8178-pkg2.run", and it failed.

The logfile is attached.

Any suggestions?

Re: Tyan Mobo with SLES Installation

Here's the problem:
NVRM: No NVIDIA graphics adapter found!

What does lspci output look like?

Thanks,
Lonni

Re: Tyan Mobo with SLES Installation

Thanks. The videocard is not listed in lspci output, so this is a kernel and/or BIOS issue. I'd be curious whether this problem exists with a different kernel/Linux distribution or even a different videocard.

Thanks,
Lonni

Re: Tyan Mobo with SLES Installation

Now for me to feel really stupid. The problem was that we had the card in second PCIe slot (called slot 3), not in the first PCI slot (slot 1). I figured that was the problem as soon as you showed me the spot that said that it couldn't find the card.

Thanks for the help - now to make sure the driver is working well!
