Got a 6800GT, help/advice Wanted
 

I had a 9800XT, sold it for $75 to a friend and bought the 6800GT for $110 from another friend. So it's a pretty cost efficient upgrade.

I got the latest forceware drivers installed. I took off the stock sink (temps of 65C idle) and strapped on my copper zalman cooler which dropped temps down to 50C with the fan at half-speed (inaudible).

On auto-overclock the core/memory sliders are ghosted out, but their staying at stock 350/1000, does that mean that the auto-oc isnt doing anything?

On my ATI i would use the latest omega's, is there a good driver remix pack out there that would work well with my card? I run win64 and win32.

Also under the temp monitor, the card's max is set to 135C, in screenshots i see with other 6800GT's the max is set to 120C, is that normal?

Are there any cool programs for nvidia cards i should know about it? i've been out of the nvidia scene since the geforce2.

who makes your 6800GT?

nvidia does, it's one of the first PCIe versions given out to reviewers when the card launched.

about the overclocking, change it to manual overclock, then select "detect optimal frequencies" the actual auto overclock option does nothing, i've tested it with benchmarks and it does nothing to improve performance

hmm, i manually set it to 425mhz core, and it was stable at 76C

i set it down to 400mhz because i want this card ot last, having it "detect optimal freqs" only has it run at 380mhz.

What's a good method to test memory overclocking?

Just run a bunch of games for a long period of time. Thats how I test and it works. Some people also loop benchmarks as well to test. Also .. 400Mhz is a nice OC for a GT. Depending on how long you want to keep the card you may or may not want to push it more. Just keep in mind you are not gonna get much more noticable out of it with anything over 400Mhz.

So out of all the driver betas, remixes, leaks, etc. The officials perform the best? I guess what i'm looking for is a balance between speed and stability, but more twoards stability.

On my 9800xt i ran a older version of catalyst because they seemed to get the best 3dmark score. Is there a 'best driver release' for the 6800gt?

What's a temperature limit that i should stay under?

has anyone made a paste with gold in it? that should conduct the best. I'd be interested in seeing if that can improve on AS5.
