8756 G-Sync No Longer Works!

Hi

I am posting here because no one from nvidia ever seems to look in the workstation area - sorry.

I have three machines with FX4500 cards connected to G-Sync boards. After installing the 8756 driver and setting things up again our OpenGL apps stopped synchronizing. The nvidia-settings setup works fine (as before) and it shows that the machines are sync'd. However when we run any application that uses the GLX_NV_swap_group extensions to activate things the join functions fail! The query function shows 1 swap group and 1 swap barrier. But the attempt to join fails.

HELP nVidia! Guess we will have to downgrade...

Specifically which applications are you using?

Please generate and provide an nvidia-bug-report.log.

Thanks,
Lonni

First, I can confirm that downgrading the driver to 8178 works as expected.

I have attached a zip file with two little test programs that illustrate what we are doing. glxb.C works without actually opening a window but tries to join the swap group and barrier using glx. The second program glxbarrier.C is started on the slaves as 'glxbarrier s' first. 'glxbarrier m f' is started on the master.

Will follow up with a debug report shortly.

I've reproduced this problem, and opened bug 224540.

Thanks,

Well, that was quick. Here are log files from the master machine using both version of the driver for comparison.

What is the possibility of this getting fixed in the near term?

It kind of makes a G-Sync setup problematic as we were looking to take advantage of some of the 8756 features.

Thanks,
Scott
