FC4 install failing with NVIDIA QuadroFX 540

Hi all,

I'm trying to install FC4 on a system with the above graphics card. The install fails in graphic install mode as it does not find the nvidia card, that is "install stalls white screen of death". After switching to text mode install completes but the system again stalls during the boot up graphic logon screen.

It's strange but the FC5 install works great, I can't use FC5 as the IBM cell simulator doesn't work with FC5.

Has anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

This is an 'nv' X driver issue. I'm assuming that once you install the nvidia X driver, these problems are eliminated?

Thanks,

If I'm understanding the solution. I need to install the X-drive at the FC4 install promt that is "linux dd" option. Also what is or where do I get this X Driver.

Thnks

No, you need to perform a text installation of the OS, and then install the nvidia X driver afterwards:

Re: FC4 install failing with NVIDIA QuadroFX 540

I have completed the following steps:

1. Install FC4 in text mode: Completed
2. System goes to reboot last message as part of FC4 install.
3. System reboots the the small graphic screen that has show details selection appears. AT THIS POINT THE SYSTEM IS STALLED.

4. I have no OS to work with.

Thanks you
Devin

Remove 'rhgb quiet' from the kernel entry, and add a 3 to the end.

Thanks,
