So far...NOT IMPRESSED. Not one bit. It's an "average" HL2 "mod" through-and-through with constant reuse of the same textures and animations. I've been playing for a little less than an hour and there wasn't one thing that made me say "wow, I'm glad I bought this."

Graphics are average at the best. It uses the Source engine but looks exactly like HL2 in most regards. There is no HDR even though I thought all future Source projects would incorporate it. Character models are OK but nothing spectacular. Sound is decent and voice acting is will done.

The weapons so far don't feel right at all. The pistol fires very slowly and the shotgun doesn't seem powerful enough. Each weapon has an alternate fire but, again, nothing special and definately nothing we didn't see in, say, Unreal which was released a decade ago. There are melee attacks but not too useful yet.

I'll play the episode through until the end but unless things pick up really soon this game will go down in history as just an average sequel to an average FPS that was lost in the pile of other average games.

I like it, and I have no idea what you are talking about the shotgun not being power full enough, it is perfect if you are close they die if you are far the shotgun doesn't do much. The pistol is perfect exactly like how it was in SiN 1.

Melee is also useful if you are close to an enemy. What animations are being redone, nothing and textures well one wooden crate isn't going to be different from another one. Do you want them to redone the fire as well and the water somehow? jesus.

Anyways some screens here:

The grass textures and some of the trees are definately hold overs from HL2. In the beginning of the game, when your female partner is leading you out, the walking animation is EXACTLY like your buddies in HL2. Definately jumped right out at me.

So far my biggest problem is with the enemies. I'm sure things will get more interesting later on but for the first hour or so you fight the exact same enemy about 100 times. HL2 wasn't known for it's enemy variety but it was way more than this. The worst part is how they just pelt you from all directions from very far distances. Very annoying. Like I said I'm going to stay with it but so far I'm definately wishing I waited for some reviews.

The animation of the character is the same with any source engine game, I don't know how you can hold that against the game.

Um no... Go play Bloodlines and you will clearly see different animations. The engine is just a tool and provides the basics... if you dont change those basics it will be nothing but generic items.

HDR is not available in Sin because the Sin episode 1 is based on the Source-engine sourcecode from Febuary 2005 which didn't include HDR.

This also explains why so many people are again experiencing the famous Source stuttering, the stutter fix is not available in the Feb 2005 build.

EH awesome so the sound stutter is still present ? and why on earth using feb 2005 build are they crazy or something.. Now i will def waiting on buying this one.

I don't experience any stutter only for a second after it has finished loading a section.
