Re: Problems with ALL drivers version above 76.67
My laptop freezes with anything above driver 7676, no error messages..
My laptop is a toshiba 5205 s503 with a GeForce 4 Go 460. The only suspicious thing I've found in the logs (/var/log says nothing, no kernel panic messages, etc) are these messages in the Xorg.0.log: Quote:
This behavior is identical in the linux nvidia driver (I tried it while using Ubuntu breezy badger), so it's not likely to be FreeBSD's fault... I *suspect* maybe some kind of acceleration was enabled by default in drivers above 7667 which my laptop does not support (for example, in the current driver, enabling xrender, composite and using xcompmgr freezes it almost instantly). |

Hello? Nvidia? are you listening?
Could you please fix the driver, or am I going to be stuck in the 7xxx series? I've got the same problem in Debian GNU/Linux...... |
Re: Problems with ALL drivers version above 76.67
Hey guys!
This post ( http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=915987 ) and the one linked inside it are worth a try, it worked for me in Debian GNU/Linux. Tomorrow I'll try to find their BSD equivalents and post my results. |
Re: Problems with ALL drivers version above 76.67
Solved!
the problem was a call to sbin/modprobe which has to be changed to a simlink to /bin/true (returns always 1) |
