bug 227803 fixed in version 1.0-8762 for Linux x86?

Lonni,
I was wondering if the bug 227803 associated the ATI RS480/482 chipset incompatibilities was fixed in the new version 1.0-8762 for Linux x86??

Regards,
Tony L.

No, I'm afraid that bug is not yet resolved.

Thanks,
Lonni

ATI needs to fix their broken chipsets. This isn't a NVIDIA bug, but an ATI chipset bug for them to work around rather.

all the same, I for one was delighted to read in t'other thread that you'd been able to reproduce the bug and open a report.

Many thanks for your effort on that. I'm sure the fix will come in good time.

Hi --

Just wondering if Bug 227803 has been fixed in the latest version (8774) of the Nvidia driver?

Best wishes,
Will

I don't think NVIDIA would try and fix an ATI bug.

The latest release-notes (for 9631) say the following:

* Fixed an OpenGL crash on some GeForce 3 and GeForce 4 GPUs.
* Fixed an X server crash starting some fullscreen OpenGL games.
* Improved interaction with newer Linux kernels.

errm ... i almost hesitate to ask, lest some clever person reply, with deft speed, marksman-like precision, and rapier-sharp wit about how Nvidia needn't fix ATI's problems ... but ... having been stuck with OpenGL crashes for 8 months now, I've just gotta know ...

Do these notes suggest that bug 227803 has been dealt with?

No, bug 227803 is not yet resolved, however it is currently under active investigation. It could potentially be worked around in a driver release in 2007.

Thanks,
Lonni

Do either of the new released / beta drivers have the fix yet for bug 227803?

Cheers.

So ... does the release of 111.whatever in June mean that this bug is finally fixed and I can run open GL on my box without fear of crashing?

hopefully yours,
Will
