8762 doesn't build under 2.6.17-git

It builds fine under 2.6.17 but not on later. Just a heads up that a change may be necessary for 2.6.18.

I now have the patch from Zander.

Re: 8762 doesn't build under 2.6.17-git

So you learnt something today:
if the driver does not built with a kernel version, look at the patches thread first.

;)

No kidding zander&the rest of nvidia's folk are usually pretty quick in posting patches, when the driver does not work with newer kernel versions.

That was exactly my first move as usual - check what zander has posted, somehow I missed it.

Re: 8762 doesn't build under 2.6.17-git

If in doubt, please do post about build problems. I generally prefer three reports of a compatibility problem than none at all. :)

Re: 8762 doesn't build under 2.6.17-git

Is there a patch for 2.6.18-rc1? The Driver will not build. It has trouble finding the kernel version.

The driver will not build with or without the patch referenced earlier in this thread?

What does the installer log look like?

Thanks,
-Lonni

Re: 8762 doesn't build under 2.6.17-git

I had to use the --kernel-source-path option as it would complain about not finding the source in /lib/modules/2.6.18-rc1.

I am running slackware, so the kernel sources are in /usr/src/... This was not a problem before.

Re: 8762 doesn't build under 2.6.17-git

What is the output from the following commands:
ls -l /lib/modules/`uname -r`
ls -l /usr/src/
uname -r

Thanks,
Lonni
