Convert working SuSE twinview to Ubuntu

1 Attachment(s)
Attached is my working config for SuSE 10.0, which i recently replaced with ubuntu 6.06. The xorg.conf no longer work correctly. I want to convert the file to use in ubuntu, but don't know enough about xorg configs to do this solo. What I want is the follows:

Primary DVI Screen: Viewsonic VP201b 1600x1200@75Hz 24bit
Secondary CRT Screen: DELL 1704FP 1280x1024@75Hz 24bit

Final single desktop 2880x1200@75Hz, with DVI to the Left of the CRT, and the DVI as Primary (ie the login screen)

I know this is possible as it worked OK on suse.

So can you guys help???

post your Ubuntu xorg.conf so we've got something to work with, otherwise it will be fairly hit and miss.

There's a whole bunch of stuff that looks like it would be specific to SUSE or some other stuff you're running in that conf file, I've just finished messing around with some x.org conf stuff for TwinView and/or Xinerama and 60% of that file you posted looks like nothing I've seen before (or that you would require to acheive what you want).

Thats the file Im using right now... direct uploaded from suse to ubuntu...and it seems to work ok, other than that I can use the default (attached produced by dexconf), which we could use as a starting point.

dexconf seems to create the xorg.conf file as if I have an ATI card..(I dont I have a 6800GT)

here's my twinview conf, with some notes for you (I don't use this one, because I have four displays, and running them all directly withXinerama works better in that environment, but you won't learn much from looking at that). This conf is Xinerama running two twinview setups, just delete the bits that you obviously don't need.

run 'lspci' to find out what the PCI bus ID is for your graphics card - that's always a good thing to know :-)

The .conf is for Fedora Core 5.

I adjusted it after looking at the configurations provided by Bernhard (see the only other thread I've posted in), and also the configurations for Gentoo.

Google for:
gentoo twinview

and you'll find all you need.

the conf files you've posted don'tl look very clean... have you managed to autogenerate something with the nvidia tool?

and do you have a Wacom tablet? If so, how does it go with TwinView?

Ok heres what Ive got so far. The setup attached seems to be working somewhat, but still no second screen and no 1600x1200 on the DFP screen.
The logout below seems to support this, although I'm stumped as to how to resolve these last two issues..Any ideas?

I think my modelines are wrong, but I'm unsure what to replace them with.
