1.0-8762 black screen, driver nv works instead.

Hello,

I'm having some trouble with the nvidia driver when connected to my Sony KDL-40V2000 LCD-tv. The TV's native resolution is 1366x768, and 1360x768 works just fine with the following modeline, when using the "nv" driver. The modeline has been generated with powerstrip, meaning that in windows those timings work as well.

ModeLine "1360x768" 85.5 1360 1424 1536 1792 768 771 777 795 +hsync +vsync

Now, when loading up the nvidia driver, Im suddenly just hitting a black screen with the same modeline and configuration. Have tried a plethora of options (such as useEDID etcet) to get 1360x768 working but with no results. Without that modeline thigs are just as bad.

Any ideas? Why do i get a perfect 1360x768 with nv-driver, but nvidia-one results in nothing else but a black screen.

Buglog attached.

According to your bug report, the CRT has a native mode of 1360x768@60Hz. The modeline that you posted above is not the same as the modeline in the EDID, which may be why its failing to work.

All you should need to do here, is request a 1360x768_60 mode, without the custom modeline.

Forgot to mention in the previous post, I've already tried the modes reported from EDID. So success. Neither with 1360x768, nor 1360x768_60.

The bug report you posted indicated that X was using a custom modeline. I'd like to see a bug report which doesn't include that custom modeline.

Also, have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS?

Bugreport from using the custom modeline with NV driver, and bugreport with nvidia driver and no custom modeline (requesting 1360x768_60) attached.

Yes, the BIOS I'm using is the most recent one.

I just noticed this entry in the EDID:
Maximum Image Size : 0mm x 0mm

However, I don't think that's causing the problem. According to the X log, X is running 1360x768.

Is the TV connected directly to the videocard with a standard VGA cable?

Yep, noticed it myself also. Tried setting the DisplaySize and DPI, but it didn't make any difference.

Currently I have the TV connected from DVI-port with an DVI-DSUB adapter (the TV only eats D-SUB or HDMI). I've tried without the adapter (as in d-sub->d-sub), but that didn't make any difference either.

Confusing, eh ;)
