Gtk-apps font rendering on KDE 3.5.4 [SOLVED]

With the update to KDE 3.5.4 on a SuSE 10.0 the font rendering of every GTK applications is wrong.

Font is thin and not smooth like normal rendering.

Have you experienced the same?

(I've latest nVidia x86 drivers installed on a GeForce4 MX 440)

try "xrdb -query | fgrep antialias". if you got "Xft.antialias: 0" then try to add "Xft.antialias: 1" string to ~/.Xresources, then "xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources". and check your ~/.qt/qtrc file for "enableXft" and "useXft" parameters in general section.

Perfect, you got it... it was the Xresources file with the wrong Xft.antialias!!

*Thanks a lot!* :D

i think your desktop environment (kde, gnome) changes this value on startup. you can try to add "xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources" string to your ~/.xsession script or to kde/gnome autostart folder, ~/.kde/Autostart/ for example.

A way of fixing this that survives reboot is to add

XftAntialias=true

to the user's .kde/share/config/kdeglobals

It appears to me that this is a regression in KDE 3.5.4.

Thanks guys, it worked adding:

XftAntialias=true

to the user's .kde/share/config/kdeglobals
