3DMark07 in September???

I keep reading on various hardware forums that 3dMark07 will be released in September (less than 2 weeks away!!).

Is there any further news on this speculation? Does Futuremark always release 3dMark in Sept?

Finally, what are the new features which will or should be included in the new 3DMark07?

Thanks in adv.

Umm... I haven't heard such things. Care to provide a link that claims this?

I'd expect 3DMark 07 to actually be a DX10 benchmark. I guess they could release it before DX10 showing us the best we'll probably see from DX9. Then when DX10 is released Futuremark drops a patch adding DX10 support. Could be done, but not likely.

I'm betting that if it comes out in September, then it will be the one that is a year from next month. ;)

Hmmm, I have not heard anything of 3DMark07, and Futuremark rarely releases every year.

Usually Futuremark releases new version when the older one breach the 15k barrier or something close ..
i think what Redeemed said makes sense .. the next 3DMark should be DX10. wether its 07 or 08.

But didn't 3dmark03, or 05, include both dx8 and dx9 benchies? If so I'm guessing the next 3dmark is going to include a mix of dx9 and dx10 benchies. Heh I haven't even seen 3dmark06 yet as my computer isn't even able to run 3dmark01 at decent framerates, so I'm looking forward to my brother getting his core2duo 6600/7950gx2 setup. ^^ 3dmark07 shouldn't be long off though as I think they only released 3dmark06 because SLi enabled users to get over 15k in 3dmark05 fairly quickly. :)

Oh yeah you're right next 3DMark might/should include some DX9.0+ features aswell so dx9.0c cards can still compete in it.
i'm guessing SM3.0/HDR , SM4.0 tests + CPU & mulitple-cores test.

it could be coming out

3dmark05 came out in Sept/Oct 04

and 3dmark06 is around 80% the same as 05
they could release a 07 now and then next year in march/april release a 08 version which will be probably 80% the same as 07 but with DX10 features

I don't know, seems like that would be a lot of "back-tracking" from a programming perspective. And as such, it seems that would be a waste of resources.

I'd be shocked if we saw a 3DMark07 this year, but ealry next year and shortly after Vista's release might be more reasonable. DX10 would be out, DX10 hardware would be out, Vista should be fully functional and atleast on par with XP's performance if not better, etc. Next year in the first or second quarter just seems more realistic and logical to me.

And who knows, this new version could even offer some 64-bit tests for the CPU, and multi-threaded tests for the CPU as well. :p
