Installation Error

Hi,

I am an absolute novice wrt Linux. The instruction says to "recompile kernel interface" ... but sadly I do not know what it means.

I have recd the following error message:

I have a feeling that it may be something very simple. Could any one of you provide me a step by step method to install the driver?

I am using Red Hat Linux. Please feel free to ask me any details you wish to know. However it would be better if you also let me know how to obtain the information :-)

Re: Installation Error

Which version of Redhat are you using that has a 2.4.2 kernel? Which NVIDIA driver version are you attempting to install?

Re: Installation Error

Hi,

I am using Red Hat Linux 7.1

The NVIDIA driver for linux I am using is "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7667-pkg1.run" and "NVIDIA_kernel-1[1].0-1541.rh71smp.i386.rpm"

Could you please tell me if they are correct? If not then which one should I use?

Thanks.

Re: Installation Error

1.0-7667 is rather old (and no longer supported), but then again so is Redhat 7.1. You might try 1.0-8776 instead.

Do you have a requirement to use Redhat-7.1?

Hi,

As per your instruction I downloaded and tried to install the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8776-pkg1.run file. However I am getting the following error:

From the above it seems that I need some kernel interface. Could you please tell me where to find this interface? I can download this file and maybe put it in the same directory as the .run file. Do you think it will work that way?

What could be the possible solution? Kindly help me please.

Re: Installation Error

I think you need a newer kernel. Is there a reason why you're using RH-7.1 ?

Hi,

Could u plz tell me where to find this new kernel? Is it some file that needs to be downloaded? Yes I need a solution for this Red Hat 7.1 only.

Thanks.
