AIGLX seeming not enabled, beta drivers, mandriva 2007, 7950GT

I have done all the stuff like enabling composite and all that stuff, if i change to XGL then 3d works but everything is white like windows and stuff and if i use AIGLX then it just doesnt work, no errors that i know of just doesnt work. I installed the beta drivers without trouble, just got the errors of a modular xorg install, my conf file still lists my card as a Geforce 7 series and the driver is just nvidia. If i open compiz command line it gives me 2 errors, 1 SmcOpenConnection failed: authentication rejected and 2 another window manager is already running on display :0 . Can anyone help?

update: it seems AIGLX is not supported in mandriva 2007, if someone can help with the XGL white screen problem that would be good.

Wrong. Both AIGLX and Xgl are supported in madriva2007.

First: Xgl will produce white cube with stock nvidia drivers.

Please add repository to urpmi and install nvidia rpm drivers. This is recomended installation of nvidia drivers by mandriva team. Dont forget to uninstall previous one. http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ . If you wont find there 9626. drivers download them from here:

If openGL manager doesn't want to start run this in console:

For compiz:

gtk-window-manager --replace & compiz-start--replace &

For beryl:

emerald --replace & beryl--replace &

Probably you are runing compiz, which is dying with aiglx and nvidia drivers. This is caused that Mdv2007 uses a bit old compiz. Update your distro.

beryl works well but its a crap window manager, removes those nice blue bars on the top of the screen so i have to use f7 to move windows. It works well with games but i just dont like it

OMG...

So you claim beryl/compiz is a piece of crap, because you can't manage to run it properly?

Don't forget to run _window_ manager:
for beryl it is called emerald, and for compiz gtk-window-manager.

BTW: your "problem" is not related to this forum.

Hi gilex...I wanted ask you if you have been able to solve those problems? What about the Geforce 7950GT? Would you recommend me to buy this card? I need a new card and like to buy the 7950GT - but wanna first know if the card works properly under linux...Please post if it does....Russel Nurjew
