TwinView Desktop Effects & Screen Size

Hi all,

I got twin view running on my FC6 install (have latest drivers). It looks great (3200x1200) :captnkill:
The only problem i have is when i enable desktop effects. When they are enable they work fine, however when i play an avi in VLC and tell VLC to do full screen it does it across the 2 displays, something it doesn't do if desktop effects and enabled.

Now my question is, is this a VLC problem or something else???

Thanks
satpal

I suggest you read http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-p.html and see how you would like to configure your screens.

If configured as two different X-Displays I won't be able to drag windows across the displays, which is what i want, I thought that was only available in twin view.
Anyhow why does it change, when I enable desktop effects otherwise it's fine. I have a feeling it's because when I'm using twinview the system thinks that there is only one display that is 3200x1600 and not 2 of 1600x1200. Therefore when anything inquires what the screen size is it return 3200x1200 and sets the full screen to be that.

BTW is there a difference between XFree86 and Xorg conf files (since i have the latter)??
Thanks

The TwinView info is on http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree8...ppendix-g.html

Yes, Twinview is used to fool the X Server into thinking you have one display.

XFree86 is a less-well supported X-server. X.Org forked from XFree86 due to various disagreements over the license that it was released under. Most people now seem to be using X.org - there is actually a bit of info on this on the x.org website, if you are interested.

Sorry to be a pain, i still am failing to understand why this only occurs only when desktop effects are enable??

Thanks
