GLX segfaults when using driver 9629

I've installed the latest version of the nVIDIA driver but when I type 'glxinfo' in a console it segfaults saying:

name of display: :0.0
Segmentation fault

Other than that, the driver works without a problem but I'm not able to run any games because of this issue that I'm having.
I'm having the same problem on both openSUSE 10.1 and Fedora Core 6

any suggestions how to fix this?

This sounds like a known bug that impacts NV2x GPUs, and has been discussed in several other threads on this forum already. I'd suggest reading the previous threads, and posting a bug report if you aren't using an NV2x GPU.

You may want to take look at this: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=3738676

Also maybe installing older wersion of drivers (what I want to try tommorow) could help.

EDIT: NV2x GPU here - GF 4200 Ti
