Multihead from readme :)

OK, beginning:
Quote:

Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia0"
Driver "nvidia"
# Edit the BusID with the location of your graphics card
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Screen 0
Option "RenderAccel" "0"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia1"
Driver "nvidia"
# Edit the BusID with the location of your graphics card
BusId "PCI:1:0:0"
Screen 1
Option "RenderAccel" "0"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "layout0"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
Screen "screen0"
Screen "screen1"
EndSection
Works, second display showns unconfigured KDE, but no input devices on it(

OK, we are doing some changes:
Quote:

Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia0"
Driver "nvidia"
# Edit the BusID with the location of your graphics card
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Screen 0
Option "RenderAccel" "0"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "nvidia1"
Driver "nvidia"
# Edit the BusID with the location of your graphics card
BusId "PCI:1:0:0"
Screen 1
Option "RenderAccel" "0"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "layout0"
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
Screen "screen0"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "layout1"
InputDevice "Keyboard1" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "Mouse1" "CorePointer"
Screen "screen1"
EndSection
Trying:
Code:

X :0 -layout layout0 -novtswitch -sharevts -deferglyphs 16 vt7
First display shows default "X" cursor, that controlled by first mouse.

Next:
Code:

X :1 -layout layout1 -novtswitch -sharevts -deferglyphs 16 vt8
returns:
Quote:

(WW) NVIDIA: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found
(EE) Screen 0 deleted because of no matching config section.
(EE) Device(s) detected, but none match those in the config file.
Any ideas?

Re: Multihead from readme :)

The input sections of the second keyboard and mouse should also be correct (they should load the right devices). But further even when that works you can't use a single nvidia card for a multihead setup. An nvidia card can only work in twinview or 'cut in two pieces' when using seperate X screens. In case of seperate X screens both displays are in the same X session (so using a single Xserver). Using two displays at the same time from different Xservers is not possible unless you add a second videocard.

Yes, my sections about input devices are correct.
So, can I attach my devices to second X screens?
They only works on first X screen, second is out of control. Or it can be only done by launching two or more X servers(but this is impossible because driver limitations, that you describe) with different layouts?

There's no way you can attach the extra keyboard/mouse to the second screen without adding an extra videocard. In case of seperate X screens you can only attach one keyboard and mouse. You switch between both screens by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen.
