Well I can tell you I love my Mitsubishi 52" DLP HDTV (WD-52631) and it meets your requirements and is on sale now at Circuit City for $1799 (only $100 more than what I paid during Black friday sales) also for $100 more the 57" version (WD-Y57) can be had for $1899.
Excellent picture.

Re: spend my money!!!

While that plasma is nice buffbiff21 it doesn't meet retsam's 1080P requirement. It's also cheaper at Amazon. ;)

oh shnap

i did not notice that :o

but make sure you get at least a 50 incher. the difference between plasma and lCD (in my eyes) is minimal, so if you want to save a bit go for LCD.
Crts hurt my eyes :( so theyre pretty much out of the question, regardless of how much some people argue about their "better color. "

Thats not 1080p though, there are no 1080p plasmas for 2k.
Either look at the jvc hd-ila rptv, sony sxrd or sharp aquos lcd to get 1080p and hdmi.

In your price range look at these.

Samsung 1080p DLP HLS87 series - 56", 61"
JVC 1080p LCoS FN97 series - 56", 61"
Sony 1080p LCoS A2000 series - 55", 60"
Toshiba 1080p DLP HM196 series - 58", 62"

Stay away from LCD projection at all costs (as well as CRT projection) and there's no big LCD screens in your price range. A 46"+ 1080p LCD is probably $3500-$4000+.

I would get either the JVC 61" or Sony 60" if I were you. They are both around $2400 at Best Buy (fantastic price IMHO).
