Hi all,

I installed nvidia drivers via Yast under Suse 10.1 - Gnome (clean and recently updated).
When restarting to have settings applied, a blank screen, obliged to reboot and change it back to nv dummy driver for linux.
I made a nvidia bug report attached.
Thanks to have a look if you can help.

regards,

J.Lo

My computer has:
Motherboard DFI AD77 (chipset via KT400 8235)
Chip Athlon 1.3 GHz
Graphic card MSI FX 5200 - TD 128 LF

System: Suse 10.1
Kernel : 2.6.16.27-0.6-default
Nvidia driver : 1.0.8776-1

1.0-8776 is no longer supported. Does this problem persist with 1.0-9746?

Thanks,
Lonni

Re: FX5200 on suse 10.1 --> blank screen

Is it possible to add version 1.0-9746 to http://download.nvidia.com/novell package source ?
As it is the official package source for my Suse and I don't want if possible to manage the dependancy by hand, it would be fine.
Otherwise, I'll do it manually.

Thanks to keep me informed,
regards,

J.Lo

Novell/SuSE builds the RPMs, NVIDIA hosts them. You'd need to direct that request to Novell/SuSE.

Thanks,
Lonni

Hi again,

I tried to install it manually.
I installed the kernel sources, and took the version 1.0-9746.
I installed it and ran sax2 -m 0=nvidia.
I got the attached logs.
Is there something else I can give ?

thanks,

J.Lo

Re: FX5200 on suse 10.1 --> blank screen

I have a few questions:
0) Have you verified that you're using the latest motherboard BIOS?
1) If you boot with the noapic and/or acpi=off kernel parameters, does that have any impact?
2) Does this problem persist if you set NvAGP to 0 in xorg.conf ?

Thanks,
Lonni
