False and misleading prices on front page, please stop it.

Look, I know it's NOT your fault that the price listings you regularly post in the news sections change within a couple of hours, but at this point it's downright misleading and bad enough to totally kill my ability to trust this site's hardware adverts. Great examples are ALL over the front page of lame underpricing and then actually clicking on the link leads you to NOTHING in that price at all! Average is 50 or more dollars off!

Nvnews is a great site and all, but you need to step up and take responsability for your front page postings and FIX THEM. If you can't garuntee the price you post won't be there an hour later, don't post it, it makes you look like your helping these companies bait and switch. That's NOT how I think you want to look. Mike C. is the primary offender of this. Don't damn well post what you can't back up. I'm VERY tired of clicking your links to a supposed good price only to find it DOESN'T exist. Essentially, that is lying, evne if it's true for a few minutes, if you KNOW it won't stay that way, why post it? Making a link to this complaint over on the other forums I visit in case I get flamed/banned for pointing out a valid and solid point.

"BFG Technologies GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card from $359" - But here's what that posting leads to:
http://nvnews.pricegrabber.com/searc...force+8800+gts
409, WTF is that??? 359 does NOT equal 409. That's almost criminal.

"MSI GeForce 8800GTX Video Card from $544" - But here's what that link leads to:
http://nvnews.pricegrabber.com/searc...force+8800+gtx
574.99... Yeah, that's honest. BULLCRAP!

"Corsair XMS2 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory from $196" - And again:
http://nvnews.pricegrabber.com/searc...+memorytarget=
235, hmmm, that doesn't sound very close. 30 bucks off and that one was posted YESTERDAY.

"eVGA GeForce 8800 GTX Video Card for $518" -What do I say?
http://nvnews.pricegrabber.com/searc...terid=29159637
579.99. 60 dollars off. Are you doing this on purpose? If you were a business I'd report you to the BBB and file suit!

2 examples of MANY all over your front page. Terrible, just terrible. Absolutely kills credibility. Does the hits really matter that much that you would LIE to us to generate money like this? This is a serious accusation. This must be fixed.

So why don't you volunteer your time to continually update the links?

I'm quite certian MikeC does not have the time to sit there all day making sure that the prices are 100% accurate.

There is NO problem in complaining or pointing out a very valid issue. The manner you've addressed isn't the most appropriate, however. Professionalism will always be more effective than angst filled rhetoric.

Other forums? Please don't do that. There is enough rivalry between forums that we don't need "complaint threads" spread around. We don't tolerate them at NVnews for that very reason.

you bring up a valid point, but the way you are talking I could really give a crap about your boohooing over prices.

And if you are so infuriated by this travesty, God gave you the ability to not visit nVNews and to not click on those links that upset you so much.

lol I don't think anyone is going to miss you on the way out.

Sorry, but you can call this complaining, but fact is it's accusation of a CRIME in most states. False and misleading statements like this have plagued this industry forever and I know it won't go away anytime soon. But my angst is rightful ANGER over having been clicking these stupid links and NOT finding what Mike C. advertises. And yeah, I could do TWICE the job in that department that he is. And I'll putmy money where my mouth is, can the staff here do the same right now? No, right now thier credibility is HIGHLY in question. And posting to other forums ensures this crime doesn't get swept under the rug by flamers and mods.

Of course not. People like you have to defend the criminal behavior because you have been ALLOWING it. This is ugly, pure and simple, and your weak attempt to make me walk away only proves what I just said.

1. MikeC isn't researching each price. If you've got a problem with the prices listed, take it up with Pricegrabber.com, the search engine that's bringing back those hits. Search engines aren't perfect and its supposed to be more of a "helping hand" to those who are interested.

2. Do you think this site is making much money, if any? This isn't MikeC's job. He's kind enough to provide us with a decent site and forums and probably doesn't get enough cash in ad revenue to even keep the site running. That means that its coming out of his pocket. He's got a job and a family that come first, so if he can't verify each price that the Pricegrabber search engine brings back...I think you can cut him some slack.

I have a job and a family too. And I take enough pride IN WHAT I DO to make sure it's accurate. If he can't ensure that accuracy or at LEAST attempt to clean up after himself, no, I won't cut any slack. If he can't do the job right, he needs to get somebody who can. Period.

You came in here with both guns blazing being an ass. You could have PMed him and he probably would have taken care of it no questions asked. He's a nice guy, but if you come storming in raising hell you're not going to get anything done but get yourself banned.

Good. Now kindly PM Mike and you can become the official nVnews price-listing-varifier. :p
