Black Screen on FC6
1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to install Nvidia drivers on a clean and updated install of Fedora Core 6.
I'm using a FX 5500 and Dell 1905FP monitor. When I reboot after installing the drivers, it appears to hang during the X initialization. I'm not well versed in X customization....so I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated!! |
Re: Black Screen on FC6
Figured out the issue...sort of. The 'pre-built' modules as downloaded from nvidia or using livna's rpms weren't playing well with my FC6 install. I had the nvidia installer build a new module from scratch and everything seems okay now....after ironing out the xorg.conf.

Re: Black Screen on FC6
I had the identical problem with FC6 and an FX 5500 running on an AMD64 system. I can the drivers to work only by setting NvAGP in xorg.conf to 0 or 2 -- that is, not using the onboard AGP capability.
Are you able to use the internal AGP support on the Nvidia card? If so, how? |
Re: Black Screen on FC6
I didn't have any issues with the AGP driver. I didn't set the NvAGP parameter in my xorg.conf though (defaults to 3). When I checked /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status , AGPGART is the agp driver that is loaded. I am running on IA32 and not AMD64 though.
I haven't tried forcing the Nvidia agp driver to load. I'll try that when I get back to that linux box and let you know what happens. |
Re: Black Screen on FC6
Would you mind posting you xorg.conf file so I can check mine against it?
Kind regards, |
