OpenGL fullscreen games crashes X

Hi
I have an NVIDIA 6150LE graphics card with the 1-9746 drivers. Fullscreen opengl games crash XFree86. Wans't this supposed to be fixed and why is it happening to me? This also happens with the latest CUDA 1-9751 drivers

Any ideas?

Re: OpenGL fullscreen games crashes X

If you are using XFree86, the X server is probably too old (for recent nvidia driver releases). Most use Xorg 7.2. Which distro/version do you have?

Most probably XFree is too old. I'm trying to upgrade to Xorg.

Thanks

even with Xorg 7.1, the games crash.
here's my xorg.conf:

Re: OpenGL fullscreen games crashes X

Without seeing a nvidia bug report which is better for diagnosis, remove this from the conf,
Code:

Load "dri"

By reading the driver README or the URL I posted 2 days ago.

Ok, i read the post and ran the bug report utility. This crash happened with Xfree and xorg 7.1 and xorg 7.1.99.

Thanks for your patience!:)

Re: OpenGL fullscreen games crashes X

I have a few questions:
0) Specifically which games are crashing?
1) Does this problem persist if you're not using the Composite extension in xorg.conf ?
2) Have you verified that you're using the latest motherboard BIOS?

thanks,
Lonni

Re: OpenGL fullscreen games crashes X

all fullscreen apps that use open gl crash eg. tremulous, chromium, even the open gl visualizations with amarok in fullscreen.

Windowed works perfectly though.

I don't know how to check whether I'm using the latest bios or not. How do I do that?

I'll tell you what happens when I disable composite.

Re: OpenGL fullscreen games crashes X

dmidecode output shows the BIOS version you're using. You'd need to check the motherboard vendor's website for updates.
