lockups when switching to console with 8800gts installed
 

when i want to switch to console from X with e.g. ctrl + alt + f1
the screen goes black, 5 seconds later i hear a beep and the system is locked
hard, not even ssh is possible anymore.

I have a similar problem with my BFG 8800GTX. Only instead it just disables my display and I have to SSH in to restart the computer.

I don't know if this happens only on Berly or on all WMs (Window Managers).
I need to test switching between tty7 (X) and the other ttys like 1,2 and 3 using my two other favorite Windows Managers: Pekwm and Fluxbox.
I'll post the results as soon as I try it. To make sure it's not just Beryl


I'm using fresh Gentoo Linux Stage3 base system with packages from portage and some overlays.

Here's the Specs:

• Gentoo XEffects Overlay to use the awesome Beryl-svn.
• Gentoo 2.6.20-r1 with the NVDIA Kernel module Driver Release 1.0-9755
• Tyan Thunder n6650W (S2915) | 2 x AMD Opteron 2212 | 2 x 2 x Modules 1GB_DDR2_667_ECC_Registered
• BFG Geforce 8800GTX 768MB
