delayed resume from S3 suspend on sony vaio VGN-FS790 (PCG-7D2L)

(Please find attached the nvidia-bug-report.log)

Description:
The machine is a sony vaio vgn-fs790. The machine suspends to ram
successfully from X (s2ram -f) with the nvidia binary driver loaded.
On resume, the display is off and the hard drive light is on for
approximately 30sec and keyboard is unusable. The hard drive light
then goes off and the system seems to be dormant (unresponsive) for
about 5min after which the display comes back on and the system is
back up with full functionality.

If I follow the same steps without the binary driver loaded, the
system resumes successfully with full keyboard functionality but the
display is off and the backlight never comes back on.

Please advice on how to resolve this or if more information is required.
Has someone experienced this?

Re: delayed resume from S3 suspend on sony vaio VGN-FS790 (PCG-7D2L)

So far, It appears that the only kernel and nvidia binary module that behave well with this laptop is the Ubuntu dapper kernel (2.15-28.51) and nvidia binary module 8776. I even installed this kernel and nvidia module on my archlinux machine and got suspend to ram (S3) to work. I'll keep testing with this kernel and other modules to see if suspend still behaves well. The latest driver (9755) has the delayed resume from suspend issue (even with this ubuntu kernel). Therefore something changed in the nvidia driver - I'll investigate further.

Maybe someone has some ideas?

It appears that the latest beta drivers (100.14.03) seem to behave better and suspend to ram (S3) resumes without delay back to X. So far so good, will continue testing for the next few days.
