[RESOLVED] CRT Blank With Twinview [420 Go]

1 Attachment(s)
Hey all. I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-S405 with a Geforce 420 Go in it. I'm trying to get Twinview working on it, but with no success. According to the log file it appears to be working fine, but the external monitor stays blank or says No Signal. I've tried it with two different monitors and cables, both of which work with other machines.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me with this; attached is my log file. I had to gzip it because it was over the attachment limit.

1.0-7184 is not supported for your GPU. Does this problem persist with 1.0-9631? Does this problem persist if you remove the ConnectedMonitor option from xorg.conf ?

I updated the drivers and removed that line, with no change. I restarted after the driver upgrade, and restarted X after the removal of that line.

Please start X with the following command:
startx -- -logverbose 6

and then generate a new bug report.

thanks,
Lonni

I removed the Modes section and all the Modes lines. However, I did not remove the metamodes lines. Should I? With the changes already made there was no difference. Attached is the latest log report.

What you have now looks fine. Have you tried driving just the CRT (without Twinview)?

Have you verified that you're using the latest BIOS?

thanks,
Lonni

How would I do just the CRT?

I'm going to swap harddrives real quick and boot Windows to make sure it still works in that. If it does, I'll be right back. If not, the plug itself must be broken. It doesn't have any apparent damage, but who knows?

Thanks for all your help so far!

Re: CRT Blank With Twinview [420 Go]

The driver will default to using a CRT. So the easiest way is to just comment out the Twinview option in xorg.conf, and then X should start on the CRT.

It's a laptop though. I just added the Twinview stuff today, and it always worked with the LCD before.

I'm not asking whether it worked with the DFP, I'm asking whether it works with the external CRT alone.
